Wherever I go, I know that I can always bring a wealth of knowledge from my two decades of experience in the field of web application development. Having been in many environments, I have had to switch using technologies often, but having the most important understanding of core concepts is what gives me the ability to adapt.
I have spent a good amount of time with PHP, Laravel, React/Typescript, Javascript, and Node/Typescript(ES6) applications. I enjoy architecting well-designed projects, which led me to publish a custom router package of my own when none existed. It can be found at: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@larzilla/boilit-router
Starting out at a major area newspaper, I revamped the online classified system while also working with third party clients contracted by the paper. I was also presented with the tasks of making special sections from scratch to coincide with the special features that ran in the newspaper. Some of it also relied on user surveys to assist other readers. The largest project, however, was an online search database of various public databases that were out there, but never aggregated in such a way as the project I created, which was a top driver of traffic.
In my tenure at a mail order CD catalog for both jazz and classical music with mass mailings, I had to come up with custom marketing promotions and transition one website from an older Perl ecommerce solution, a PHP based one from scratch. I was also tasked with creating a database in MySQL to replace a mainframe, saving the company money.
Continuing to grow my ecommerce experience, I helped build both internal and external sites which would have multisite pricing for shared products. Most of the work involved PHP and Java/JSP for managing products. The company eventually cracked into the internet top 500.
I then moved on to an agency that managed multimillion dollar clients with high volume, with sites based on Magento 1.x. I was first assigned with building the first Magento 2.x site for one of the clients in the agency. I was given a large amount of flat templates by a designer, which I then had to convert into Magento patterns. The site wound up having multiple checkouts with both subscription, and single purchase items. I also worked on the agency’s main website, as well as created administrative sections and plugins for Magento to help eliminate manual data entry by developers for some very custom embroidery options for a uniform client.
Currently, I am in a role with a company that helps large pharmaceutical clients with auditing and events management, which is required by the Federal Government. Most of the work is internal, I architected a DocuSign integration used for medical provider contracting, multiple upgrades, along with code refactoring on an API that talks to various apps. I have also had to take a server side PHP frontend with vanilla Javascript and convert it to a single page application with custom routing and modules.
In conclusion, it is the summary of my many experiences across the board within application development that makes me confident I can always provide valuable solutions.
